Public Affairs Officer (Interim) | London / Hybrid | Immediate Start
£19.25 – £22ph depending on experience (£35K-£40K equivalent)
Membership Bespoke is working with a leading UK membership organisation to recruit a Public Affairs Officer to support a high-impact public affairs function during a period of extended leave.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role at the heart of political engagement in the education and skills space, ideal for someone who thrives on policy insight, stakeholder engagement, and delivering clear, influential communications.
The Role
You’ll support the Public Affairs Manager and wider team to influence government and policymakers across England, with a focus on further education and the student landscape.
Key responsibilities include:
• Drafting high-quality briefings, template letters, and newsletter content
• Monitoring and analysing UK political developments and translating them into meaningful insight
• Supporting delivery of party conference activity in the autumn
• Coordinating a high-profile parliamentary report launch
What we’re looking for
• Strong written and verbal communication skills – able to tailor messaging to different audiences
• Solid understanding of UK politics and parliamentary processes
• Ability to interpret complex policy developments and assess their impact
• Proven experience organising events with senior stakeholders
Desirable:
• Knowledge of the further education sector
• Experience supporting party conferences or parliamentary events

• Immediate start
• Initial 3-month contract (likely to extend to 6 months or beyond)
