The Reliability Maintenance Engineering(RME) team at Amazon is fundamental to our operations – they’re theones keeping vital machinery running at all times. As an RMETechnician, you’ll maintain a wide range of equipment andworkspaces while upholding Health and Safety best practices.
You’ll help to keep your colleagues safe andprevent machine downtime. Our RME Technicians boost theavailability and quality of our equipment and work to enhance theoperational environment too.
Key jobresponsibilities
-Proactive and preventative maintenancetasks on a wide range of site equipment
-Carry outreactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distributionwarehouse
-Use the latest tools to maximise equipmenteffectiveness
-Uphold all health and safety policies andpractices
-Support the development and progression ofon-site apprentices
-Work on continuous improvementprojects and roll out best practices across a range of EUsites
A day in the life
Our RMETechnicians are based on-site, so they can respond quickly to anymachinery issues. You’ll carry out a range of planned preventativemaintenance to our sites’ equipment to make sure it’s workingsafely. As an RME Technician, you’ll also respond promptly tobreakdowns, investigating, finding, and implementing solutions asquickly as possible. You’ll also make suggestions for long-termimprovements.
Working alongside seniorcolleagues, you’ll undertake day-to-day maintenance tasks and willliaise with contractors if you need external expertise. You’ll workon a range of shifts to make sure our sites are supported aroundthe clock – allowing Amazon to deliver at the speed we’re knownfor.

Our ReliabilityMaintenance Engineering or RME team keep our equipment performingat its best. We’re a technically minded team, made up of excellentteam players and guided by experienced leaders. We work together tomaintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment across our globalnetwork of fulfilment centres. Some of our people are leaders, whooversee the team as they work on exciting technology – some ofwhich only exists at Amazon.
From installingautomated packaging systems to overseeing the general maintenanceof a site to repairing key distribution equipment, our team handlesmost aspects of Amazon’s technical side. This includes keepingbuildings legally compliant, so everyone is safe, and our sites areoperating at maximum efficiency. There are lots of opportunitiesfor progression, both within the RME team and more widely acrossAmazon.
Everything we do focuses on reducingdowntime in Amazon’s crucial operations sites, so customers gettheir orders on time. We often work during early or late hours tocarry out maintenance with minimal disruption, including nightshifts. If we spot a better way to do something, we have the skillsand the opportunity to develop and introduce completely newprocesses or cutting-edge tech like Amazon Robotics and our ComplexItem Sorter.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS-High school or equivalent diploma
– high school diplomaor equivalent
– NVQ Level 3/ SVQ Level 3/ IVQ Level 3/City & Guilds Level 3/EAL Level 3 all specialized inMechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics
– 4 years UKcertified apprenticeship
– NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical,Electrical or Mechatronics, or completed a 4-year UK certifiedapprenticeship
– SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) inMechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics, or completed a 4-year UKcertified apprenticeship
– Work a flexibleschedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/orholidays
– Work flexible schedules including weekends,nights, and holidays
– Served a full Engineeringindentured apprenticeship and/or qualified to a minimum NVQ Level 3or equivalent in a relevant Engineering subject (City & GuildsEAL, SVQ/IVQ, BTEC all at Level 3
– Relevant experienceas a qualified engineer
– Relevant experience working inmechanical and/or electrical maintenance
– Advancedproficiency in the local language verbally and inwriting
– Please be prepared to provide proof ofqualifications obtained as part of Amazon’s Terms ofEmployment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS-Associate’s degree in Mechnical or Electrical
-Experience with material handling equipment (MHE) safety standardsaccordance with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and safetystandards
– Experience with robotic operation andmaintenance
– Experience in condition-basedmonitoring
– Experience working with print and applymachines
