A well-established and friendly accountancy practice based in Upminster is seeking a Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to join their growing team.

This is a great opportunity for an AAT qualified or part-qualified candidate looking to develop their career within a supportive practice environment, working with a varied portfolio of clients.

The Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Bookkeeping for a wide range of clients
• Preparation and submission of VAT returns
• Assisting with accounts preparation to trial balance stage
• Supporting with payroll processing
• Liaising directly with clients to provide day-to-day support
• Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance

The Candidate:

You will ideally have:

• AAT qualified or part-qualified status
• Previous experience within an accountancy practice
• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and VAT
• Experience preparing accounts to trial balance
• Payroll experience (desirable but not essential)
• Good working knowledge of accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• A proactive and professional approach
