To start on 1 September 2027 or on a mutually agreed-upon date.
Candidates must hold a PhD in Economics or Finance and demonstrate excellence in academic research through a distinguished publication record, a strong and forward-looking research agenda, and meaningful contributions to policy debates.
The successful candidate will teach postgraduate courses in international macroeconomics and finance. The candidate will also be expected to assume a leadership role at the Graduate Institute’s Centre for Finance and Development and to mentor junior faculty. They will be encouraged to contribute actively to policy analysis in these fields; maintaining strong networks with policymakers and academic institutions will be considered a plus.
The candidate’s research and policy agenda should cover the core principles of international macroeconomics and finance as well as emerging issues related to sustainable finance, the global financial system, and financial globalisation.
The successful candidate will supervise master’s dissertations and PhD theses in the Department of International Economics. They will also teach courses and supervise master’s dissertations in the Institute’s interdisciplinary Master in International and Development Studies and may be called upon to contribute to executive education programmes. Given the Institute’s interdisciplinary environment, the selected candidate should have an interest in interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration.
The teaching language is either English or French. Prior knowledge of French is not required, but the successful candidate is expected to acquire at least a passive knowledge of it within two years of being hired.
Candidates are required to submit a cover letter and a CV. Long-listed candidates will also be required to provide additional documents.
Application deadline: 16 August 2026 midnight (CET)
The Institute reserves the right to fill the post by invitation at any time.
Please note that offers received by post will not be considered.
