Our client is a well-established and growing independent accountancy practice based in Liverpool, operating across the North West. The firm has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality audit, accounting, and advisory services to a broad client base, with particular expertise in SME/owner-managed businesses and the not-for-profit sector. With a collaborative culture and clear succession planning in place, this is a key strategic hire aimed at strengthening and developing the firm’s audit function.Role Overview – Audit ManagerThe successful candidate will play a central role in managing audit engagements, developing client relationships, and contributing to the growth of the audit department.Managing and delivering audit assignments from planning through to completionActing as the main point of contact for a varied client portfolio, including SME/owner-managed businesses, not-for-profit organisations, and professional practicesLine managing and developing a team of 3-4 staff membersReviewing audit work and ensuring compliance with UK auditing standardsTaking an active role in business development, including:Supporting pitches and tender processesIdentifying opportunities within existing client relationshipsBuilding commercial awareness and visibility within the firmAssisting with ad hoc projects including due diligence assignments and complex accounting issuesSupporting the firm’s audit quality control processesWorking closely with senior leadership with the aim of stepping into an RI role in the short termRole Requirements – Audit ManagerACA or ACCA qualifiedProven experience operating at Audit Manager level within a UK practiceStrong knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standardsBackground in general practice with experience managing multiple audits concurrentlyExperience supervising and developing junior team membersExposure to not-for-profit or SME audit work is highly desirableExperience with SRA Accounts Rules reviews would be an advantage, but not essentialSalary & Benefits – Audit ManagerSalary: £50,000- £60,000 (depending on experience)Working hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm (office-based role in Liverpool)Clear progression pathway to RI statusExposure to business development and leadership responsibilitiesSupportive and collaborative working environmentOpportunity to shape and grow the firm’s audit offeringStandard holiday entitlement (25-27 days + bank holidays, depending on level and experience)Pension schemeAdditional discretionary bonus and performance-based review opportunitiesBennett and Game Recruitment are a multi-disciplined technical recruitment agency based in Chichester, West Sussex operating across the UK with specialist teams covering a range of industries.
