About the Role
Informal Queries
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join a project in the Department of Chemistry in the Warwick Electrochemistry and Interfaces Group at the University of Warwick working under the supervision of Prof. Julie Macpherson and Prof. Patrick Unwin.
The postdoctoral fellowship is part of the EPSRC-funded EXPRESS Programme Grant, ’Exploiting Single Source Precursors for the Electrochemical Growth of Functional 1D and 2D Transition Metal Dichalcogenide (TMDC) Semiconductors’. EXPRESS is a flagship, interdisciplinary 5-year research programme led jointly by the Universities of Warwick and Southampton, bringing together internationally leading teams from across chemistry, physics and electronic engineering.
The Programme aims to deliver a step-change in the understanding and control of electrochemical growth of functional TMDC semiconductors, combining precursor design and synthesis, electrochemistry, solution and surface computation, advanced characterisation and device integration. In addition to the essential disciplinary research skills, candidates should demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for collaborative working, the ability to communicate effectively across disciplines, and well-developed organisational skills.
In this role you will be using the high resolution electrochemical (EC) imaging techniques, with a focus on scanning electrochemical cell microscopy (SECCM) and EC-atomic force microscopy to elucidate the early stage nucleation and growth mechanism of two-dimensional TMDC’s and metal nanostructures in the context of the larger EPSRC-funded collaboration project. You will be required to be flexible and interact effectively with colleagues across the wider EXPRESS consortium to fulfil the scientific goals of the Programme.
PhD Status
If you are near submission of your PhD, or have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made at Research Assistant level, at the highest spinal point of pay grade 5 (£34,610 per annum).
Upon receipt of evidence confirming the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow, at the lowest spinal point of grade 6 (£35,608 per annum).
