Sheridan Maine is delighted to be partnering with a growing and ambitious organisation in Bishop’s Stortford to recruit a Financial Controller. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take ownership of day-to-day finance operations while supporting the continued development of the finance function.

Reporting into the Head of Finance, the successful candidate will oversee transactional finance activities, ensure robust financial controls are maintained, and drive process improvements across the business.

Key Responsibilities as the Financial Controller:

• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and payroll processes.
• Lead month-end activities, including reconciliations, journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Maintain strong financial controls, compliance procedures and audit trails.
• Support the production of monthly management information and financial reporting.
• Drive process improvements, system enhancements and finance automation initiatives.
• Manage relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Provide leadership and guidance across finance operations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

To be considered for this Financial Controller position, you will have/be:

• AAT qualified (or working towards) or equivalent relevant finance experience
• Experience within a finance or accounting role, with exposure to transactional processes and month-end activities
• Strong understanding of core finance functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliations
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and a focus on accuracy
• Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively across different teams
• Proactive, adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
