Payroll Manager Job at Wokingham, Berkshire Full Time NEW

Reed Accountancy are currently working with a growing, well-established group business based in Wokingham who are looking to recruit a Payroll Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity to step into a newly created role where you’ll have full ownership of bringing payroll back in-house and shaping how it’s run moving forward.

The Role

This is a standalone payroll position where you will take responsibility for the end-to-end payroll function across the group. Currently payroll is outsourced, and the aim is to bring this fully in-house with one central point of contact.

You’ll be managing payroll across multiple entities (currently five payrolls) and working closely with the wider finance team.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing and processing monthly payroll accurately and on time using Sage People Payroll
• Taking ownership of payroll for a workforce of c.300+ employees
• Ensuring accurate clocking-in/clocking-out data is captured and maintained
• Processing pension submissions (Aegon & NEST)
• Submitting payroll data to HMRC and ensuring full compliance with legislation
• Posting payroll journals into the accounting system
• Completing PAYE reconciliations
• Producing payroll reports and supporting with analysis
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and systems within payroll

This is a great role for someone who enjoys improving processes and making a function their own.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous payroll experience (ideally with end-to-end responsibility)
• Experience using payroll systems (Sage People Payroll would be a real advantage, but not essential)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Confident working independently and taking ownership
• Good understanding of payroll legislation and compliance
• Strong Excel and general systems skills
• A proactive approach – someone who is happy to suggest improvements rather than just maintain the status quo
