ROLE SUMMARY:

Ivy House School thrives as a distinguished, co-educational, and non-denominational school for boys and girls aged 2-11, nestled within the green spaces of Golders Hill Park in Hampstead. Ivy House Nursery is a co-educational nursery for children aged 2 to 4 years and is looking for a Maternity Cover Nursery Assistant to join in September 2026. The Nursery Teaching Assistant will work alongside the Nursery Teacher to meet the daily needs of the children while providing Early Years Education.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To have a thorough understanding and knowledge of child development
• To implement the Early Years Foundation Stage
• To provide a warm, caring, and stimulating environment for the children to work in
• To demonstrate a thorough knowledge of safeguarding children
• To understand what constitutes good health and safety practice
• To provide an environment free from sexual and racial stereotyping
• To contribute to children’s Early Years Profiles
• To build strong links with parents and liaise with parents as required
• To work effectively as a team and give support to colleagues
• Preparation, maintenance, and tidying up of all equipment areas within the school, inclusive of outdoor areas
• Openness to undertake domestic jobs within a nursery setting, such as the cleansing of equipment
• Taking children to the lavatory and to deal with accidents if required

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• Essential:
• Ability to work independently using own initiative.
• Ability to relate well to children and adults including colleagues, other professionals and parents.
• Ability to communicate effectively with adults and children
• Good written, verbal and non verbal communication
• Hold an NVQ Level 3 or above qualification.

Desirable:

• Proven experience of working with children
• Experience of working in early years in a school environment
• Experience of working as part of a team
• Ability to interact with children and support their involvement in a range of activities including outdoor play
• Experience of maintaining written records of children’s achievements including observations
• Ability of working with parents or families
