About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the University of Oxford as an Apprentice Engineering Maintenance Technician in the Engineering Science department.
You will work as an Apprentice Engineering Maintenance Technician. You will be required to complete a three and a half-year training programme that will cover all aspects of the role delivered through in-house training, alongside block release or other distance learning methods delivered by MTC at Oxfordshire Advanced Skills Culham Campus.
About the apprenticeship
As part of this role, you will work towards a Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Apprenticeship, with clear development objectives set throughout the programme to support your progress.
For this apprenticeship, you will work at the Engineering Science Department within the Oxford Thermofluids Institute, which is located at the Southwell Building, Osney Mead, Oxford, OX2 0ES. The Oxford Thermofluids Institute has some of the world’s most advanced experimental facilities, and as a part of your role you will learn skills that will make you an integral role in their operation. As part of your apprenticeship, you will be required to attend Oxfordshire Advanced Skills Culham Campus for periods of block release. The successful applicant is required to have British citizenship.
In total, it will take 42 months to complete all elements of the apprenticeship, with support from the Department, University, and College throughout.

About you
You will be passionate about starting your career in engineering and excited about the opportunity of becoming an apprentice at the University of Oxford. You may be starting your career, or you may be looking for a career change.
To complete the level [DW1] 3 apprenticeship, you will need to evidence 5 GCSE passes at grade 4 or above including English and Maths.
Regardless of your prior qualifications MTC will require you to complete a short initial assessment during the application process. There are also government residency requirements for Apprenticeship funding which the Training Provider will be able to advise on.
