Salary: Fringe Leadership Scale £57,137 – £63,070 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2026 or earlier by agreement
A forward-thinking and inclusive primary academy in Stevenage is seeking to appoint an exceptional Assistant Head Teacher – Teaching & Learning to join its senior leadership team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and ambitious educator who is passionate about school improvement and delivering outstanding outcomes for pupils.
The school is looking for an inspiring leader with the drive and vision to further enhance teaching standards and support a culture of continuous improvement across the academy. This role would suit an experienced teacher ready to progress into senior leadership or an existing middle leader looking to broaden their impact across the whole school.
As Assistant Head Teacher – Teaching & Learning, you will work closely with the leadership team to promote high-quality classroom practice, support curriculum innovation, and help shape the strategic direction of the academy. You will also play an active role in mentoring and developing staff, ensuring that all pupils benefit from engaging and effective teaching.
The successful Assistant Head Teacher will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status and demonstrate consistently strong classroom practice.
Be an enthusiastic and motivated leader with the ability to inspire colleagues and pupils alike.
Have a secure understanding of outstanding teaching and learning across the primary or secondary phase.
Be confident in coaching, supporting, and challenging staff to achieve excellence.
Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and raising pupil attainment.
Contribute positively to the wider ethos, values, and community of the school.
