General Assistant
Wolverhampton City Council
Multiple locations across Wolverhampton
£13.05 per hour (weekly pay)
About the Role
Wolverhampton City Council is currently recruiting for a General Assistant to support catering and café operations across a number of sites, including Aldersley Leisure Centre Cafe, West Park Tea Rooms, Bantock House, and Wolverhampton Art Gallery.
This is a varied and hands-on role where you will support the delivery of high-quality food service while ensuring an excellent customer experience in a busy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Cook Supervisor with food preparation and service
- Support buffet preparation, setup, and replenishment
- Prepare and serve hot and cold food and beverages, including use of a barista coffee machine
- Operate tills and process both card and cash payments accurately
- Deliver excellent customer service at all times
- Serve food to customers in a professional and friendly manner
- Clear tables promptly and maintain a clean, welcoming environment
- Carry out cleaning duties, including washing up and maintaining kitchen and café equipment
- Check deliveries, ensure accuracy, and store items safely
Additional Duties
- Attend training as required to support operational needs (this may include occasional work outside normal hours)
- Work in line with all Council policies, including Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, Data Protection, and Financial Regulations
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the café and catering service
