About The Role

You will lead the quality of teaching and learning across a year group, monitoring pupil progress and ensuring effective lesson planning and interventions are in place to secure strong outcomes. You’ll support and develop staff through coaching, mentoring and appraisal and build strong relationships with pupils, families and other colleagues. As part of the middle leadership team you will contribute to whole‑school improvement priorities and champion our school values.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a year group team to deliver consistently high‑quality teaching and learning
• Monitor pupil progress, implement targeted interventions and drive strong outcomes
• Coach, mentor and appraise staff to support professional growth and improve practice
• Promote positive behaviour and ensure consistent use of school behaviour policies
• Build effective relationships with pupils, staff, parents and external agencies
• Lead Pupil Progress Meetings and use assessment data to inform planning and improvement
• Support whole‑school priorities, including improvement strategies and OFSTED actions
• Maintain clear, effective communication across the year group and wider school community
• Contribute to engaging schemes of work and high‑quality planning
• Champion safeguarding and uphold the welfare of all pupils

Keeping Children Safe in Education

Kingsleigh Primary School will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
