Unsted Park School & Sixth Form is seeking to recruit an additional outstanding English Teacher to join our committed and collaborative teaching team.

Unsted Park School is set in a beautiful semirural location within 44 acres of surrounding grounds. We are a residential and day SEN school specialising in the education and care of children and young people aged 719, all of whom are autistic and may have associated learning differences.

About The Role

The English Department plays a central role in the school’s ongoing achievement and development. It is a driven, reflective, and cohesive team that consistently strives for the highest standards for both students and staff.

We are seeking a teacher who is passionate about English and committed to helping all learners succeed. While the primary focus of the role is Key Stages 3 and above, an understanding of phonics and foundational literacy learning is highly desirable, as some students require targeted support to access the curriculum.

Our commitment to students is that every learner leaves with an English qualification or meaningful accreditation. The department has a strong track record of developing staff and achieving excellent outcomes within a supportive environment.

The post offers the potential to teach across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, including:

• Functional Skills
• GCSE English Language and Literature
• A Level English (Language and Literature)

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver highquality English lessons in line with the National Curriculum for KS3KS5
• Adapt teaching to support a wide range of abilities, including students working below agerelated expectations
• Demonstrate an understanding of phonics, literacy intervention, and foundational learning where required
• Assess, record, and report on student progress, ensuring personalised and meaningful feedback
• Create a supportive, structured, and engaging learning environment
• Differentiate effectively to meet diverse learning needs, including SEN
• Manage classroom behaviour positively, promoting independence, respect, and selfregulation
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals
• Contribute to departmental development, staff meetings, CPD, and wider school life
• Uphold safeguarding practices and contribute positively to the school ethos

Qualifications And Skills

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience teaching English at KS3 and/or above
• Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the English curriculum
• Clear and effective communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
