Finance Officer

• Location: King’s Lynn, Norfolk
• Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (dependent on experience/qualifications)
• Job Type: Full-time, 37 hours per week (part-time hours over 30 per week considered)

Reed Accountancy Norwich are delighted to have been retained to recruit a Finance Officer to join our client in King’s Lynn. In this position, you will play a crucial role in managing all financial transactions within a collaborative and development focused environment.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Perform daily accounting and transaction processing including payroll, ledgers, invoices, reconciliations, and BACS processing.
• Produce month-end reports on outstanding rates and manage ratepayer enquiries.
• Handle registration and collection of Direct Debit payments, ensuring accurate allocation and addressing anomalies.
• Maintain thorough documentation and audit trails, adhering to Financial Regulations.
• Liaise with landowners, agents, auditors, and ratepayers, managing audit or inspection requirements.
• Ensure prompt invoicing and collection of drainage rates and other charges.
• Produce financial statements, monthly management accounts, and reports.
• Support the Finance Department during periods of holiday and sickness, and undertake additional tasks as required by management.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Essential:
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.
  • At least two years of relevant work experience in accounting, including sales ledger and credit control.
  • Strong organizational skills to meet deadlines and manage workloads.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with accounting software like Sage 50/200.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A methodical approach to work with attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
• Desirable:
  • Membership or qualifications from a professional body like AAT.
  • Experience covering additional accounting functions such as purchase ledger, costing, or payroll.
  • Knowledge of Direct Debit processing and public sector structure.

Other Job Information:

• The role will initially focus on sales ledger and credit control, expanding to include other functions like purchase ledger.
• Full training on the accounting software package will be provided.
