Food Technician Job at Wigan, Lancashire Full Time NEW

At Hays Education, we are working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in Wigan to recruit a Food Technician to join their Design & Technology department on a short-term basis from after May half-term through to the end of the academic year.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and organised individual to support a busy and engaging food technology department during a key period.
Your new role
As a Food Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting both staff and students by ensuring practical lessons run smoothly and safely. Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing ingredients, equipment, and materials for food technology lessons
• Supporting teachers during practical sessions
• Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment
• Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering supplies
• Ensuring compliance with health & safety and food hygiene regulations
• Cleaning utensils, equipment, and workspaces after lessons

What you’ll need to succeed

• Previous experience working in a school, catering, or food preparation environment (desirable)
• Knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety standards
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A proactive and flexible approach
