An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially minded finance professional to join a well-established and values-led organisation as Head of Finance.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day finance operations, managing a small finance team, and supporting strategic financial planning across the organisation and its associated entities.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and internal controls, while also contributing to wider strategic and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the finance function, ensuring efficient and effective financial operations
• Prepare monthly management accounts, forecasts, and financial analysis
• Support strategic planning through financial modelling and reporting
• Manage budgeting and long-term financial planning processes
• Oversee payroll, pensions, accounts payable/receivable, and cash flow management
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements
• Coordinate external audits and maintain robust internal controls
• Support capital project evaluation and financial monitoring
• Partner with senior stakeholders to drive financial performance and operational efficiency
• Mentor and develop members of the finance team

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented finance leader who combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication and leadership skills.

You will ideally have:

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (or equivalent)
• Significant experience in financial and management accounting
• Experience leading finance teams and improving financial processes
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling capability
• Excellent Excel and analytical skills
• A collaborative and professional approach with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively

Experience within the education or charity sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
