Our client is a dynamic and growing business based in Reading, currently seeking a Junior Accountant on a fixed-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual with month-end experience who is immediately available and looking to take the next step in their accounting career.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the month-end close process, including journals, accruals and prepayments
- Support the preparation of management accounts
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
- Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register
- Assist with bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities
- Prepare and analyse financial reports to support decision-making
- Assist with year-end processes and audit requirements
- Contribute to process improvements within the finance function.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a finance or accounting role, with exposure to month-end processes
- Actively studying towards an accounting qualification (e.g. AAT, ACCA, CIMA) or looking to start
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
- Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and journals is desirable
- Good Excel skills (e.g. VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team
- Able to manage workload and meet tight deadlines, particularly around month-end
- Immediately available or available at short notice.
