Personal Assistants, WS​/NE- Term time – School Job at Newcastle Full Time NEW

Position: Personal Assistants, WS/NE4- Term time – up to 12 hours/month School holidays – up to 18 hours/month
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

We are looking for 2 Personal Assistants to support a fun‑loving, humorous 16 year‑old young man who is non‑verbal, has learning disabilities, is wheelchair‑based, has an epilepsy profile and is PEG fed.

Hours: Term time – up to 12 hours/month;
School holidays – up to 18 hours/month.

After school and early evening support (4 pm – 10 pm): Home‑based support providing full personal care and bathing on a 1‑to‑1 basis.

Trips out (10 am – 4 pm): Community support offering independence, cinema trips, music, meeting friends, and visits to interactive spaces such as the Centre for Life or Blue Reef Aquarium. The client requires Changing Places toileting facilities in the community and therefore needs 2 to 1 PA support on trips out. Termtime: one trip per month on a Saturday. School holidays: two trips per month, with flexibility on the days of the week.

Preferred

Requirements

• Previous experience supporting a child or adult with learning disabilities, including PEG feeding, and appropriate moving and handling.
• Previous experience of driving a wheelchair‑accessible vehicle and possession of a clean driving licence.

Training

• Client will provide training for gastrostomy care, epilepsy support and rescue medication, and appropriate moving and handling.

Candidate will be required to complete a DBS application. This will be funded by the employer.
