We have an exciting opportunity to join us here at Cova Insurance as a Schemes Assistant Underwriter , within our Commercial Lines Team!

This is a hybrid position, combining the best of both worlds – working from home and spending time in our Halifax or Reading office.

Join the Commercial Schemes team that specialises exclusively in schemes underwriting – offering expert insight, consistent decisions and a reliable 24hour SLA for all referrals.

What does a day-to-day look like?

Learn the basics of underwriting support broker referrals and underwriting decisions in line with Covas appetite, working closely with experienced underwriters and escalating when needed.

Build relationships work with broker partners and internal teams, building confidence and communication skills as you go.

Support trading activity help with daytoday trading tasks and team initiatives, learning what good looks like and contributing to team performance.

Spot trends help track and share simple underwriting and pricing trends, supporting analysis led by senior colleagues.

Get involved in projects support portfolio activity such as large loss reviews, reporting, and flood checks, gaining exposure across the business.

Follow processes keep records accurate and up to date, making sure all work follows Covas systems and procedures.

What youll need to succeed:

Teamwork & collaboration able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced environment.

Communication excellence strong verbal and written communication, excellent telephone manner, and the ability to convey information professionally and efficiently.

Organisation & time management skilled in prioritising, managing workflow, and maintaining strong organisational discipline to achieve optimal outcomes.

Customer service & problemsolving confident handling customer interactions and resolving issues with attention to detail.

Motivation & personal development positive attitude, driven, ambitious, resilient, and eager to learn and develop strong trading skills.

Market awareness understanding of market trends and awareness of legal and industry developments.
