We are supporting a well-established accountancy practice in Stoke-on-Trent that is looking to appoint a Semi-Senior Accountant on a fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practice experience to take on a varied role, supporting a portfolio of clients across accounts preparation, tax, and day-to-day advisory.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare statutory accounts for a range of clients including SMEs, sole traders, and partnerships
- Assist with the preparation of management accounts and financial reports
- Support the completion of VAT returns and corporation tax computations
- Liaise directly with clients to request information and resolve queries
- Assist senior members of the team with more complex accounting assignments
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in line with compliance requirements
- Support junior staff where required and contribute to team workflow
- Ensure deadlines are met across multiple client engagements
Key Requirements
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment
- Strong understanding of accounts preparation and basic tax principles
- AAT qualified or ACCA/ACA part-qualified (or equivalent)
- Experience using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or similar
- Good working knowledge of Excel
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Confident communication skills with the ability to build client relationships
