Island-wide travel required)The roleWe are looking for a Housing Support Worker to join our dedicated team on the Isle of Wight!This is a varied and rewarding role where you will provide tenancy sustainment, intensive housing management, and person-centred support to residents across our specialist supported housing schemes. You will work in partnership with the NHS, local authorities, and voluntary sector organisations to help individuals maintain their tenancies, develop independence, and achieve positive outcomes.You will be primarily based at either our Newport officebut will work flexibly across multiple schemes and locations across the Island.What youll be doingDeliver tenancy sustainment and intensive housing management, ensuring residents are supported to maintain their homes and avoid homelessnessProvide person-centred support to vulnerable residents, including those with complex needs, promoting independence and wellbeingUse strengths-based approaches, Housing First principles, and psychologically informed environments (PIE)Develop and maintain support plans and risk assessments, ensuring they are up to date and meet statutory and local authority requirementsDeliver key working sessions, supporting residents to achieve their goals and build independent living skillsSupport with daily living, life skills, social inclusion, and community engagementWork collaboratively with external partners including health professionals and other agenciesMaintain the safety and security of residents homes, ensuring a safe living environmentFollow all health and safety procedures, including lone working and safeguardingRespond appropriately to emergencies and risk situationsEncourage resident involvement and engagement in servicesWhat youll needExperience working in a customer-focused or support environmentKnowledge of tenancy sustainment, housing management, and relevant legislationAbility to manage risk and respond effectively to challenging situationsStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationshipsA compassionate, empathetic and patient approachAbility to work flexibly, prioritise workload, and manage competing demandsExperience (or willingness to develop skills) in support planning and key workingAbility to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and partner agenciesWillingness to work towards an NVQ Level 2 and 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant fieldMinimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade 95 / AC), including Maths and English (or equivalent) *Additional requirementsFull UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business useWillingness to travel across the Isle of WightClosing Date: 10th June 2026Please note, we reserve the right to close this vacancy early, should we receive a high volume of applicationsApplying for roles with usAbout usAt Southern Housing, our residents are at the heartof everything we do.
