The Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) is an executive agency of the Department for Education (DfE). The purpose of the agency is to support employers, schools and headteachers with their safeguarding responsibilities by taking action on receipt of allegations of serious teacher misconduct and providing employers the opportunity to complete pre-recruitment checks to ensure that they are employing teachers who are appropriately qualified for their role.
The TRA operates the regulatory system for teacher misconduct as defined by The Teachers’ Disciplinary (England) Regulations 2012 and the Teacher Misconduct Procedures – Disciplinary procedures for the Teaching Profession. It is responsible for investigating all cases of serious teacher misconduct and the administration of those cases progressing to a professional conduct panel hearing.
This is an exciting role in which you will contribute to the TRA’s statutory responsibility for regulating the teaching profession and helping to safeguard pupils.
As a member of the Casework Support Team, you will provide operational support to the casework team to progress cases of serious teacher misconduct. You will play an active role in ensuring new referrals are accurately created, quality assured and progressed on the casework system. You will work closely with colleagues to ensure shared inboxes are effectively managed, including processing referrals and complaints, responding to information and disclosure requests, providing telephone cover when required, and liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders to support timely decision‑making and case progression.
