Role Summary
The Department of Music is looking to appoint a part-time
Teaching Fellow to cover planned teaching on our Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes, including modules focusing on twenty-first century music.
Main Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include convening and teaching the modules Critical Musicology, Music for Games and Music as Critical Practice. In addition, the successful applicant will also contribute to a range of other core undergraduate and postgraduate modules. They will undertake first and second marking, as well as dissertation supervision, within the department on a range of topics at a variety of levels as required. The role will also involve pastoral support for students through personal and group tutorials and office hours, attending departmental meetings, and will include other departmental administrative roles. The role-holder will be required for on-campus teaching and meetings across 1 to 3 days per week (timetable-dependent).
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have a PhD on a topic relating to musical culture since 2000. The ability to teach studio-based composition is desirable and the ability to teach modules on Music for Games, Music as Critical Practice and Critical Musicology is essential. Adaptability and flexibility, fluency in written and spoken English, and experience of teaching Music in a university department or equivalent are essential.
