Role Description The Team Leader for Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) is a full-time, on-site role based at Vincent Secondary. The role involves leading the MFL department, setting a clear vision for language learning, and ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all modern foreign language classes. Daily responsibilities include planning and teaching engaging lessons, supporting and coaching MFL teachers, overseeing curriculum development, and monitoring student progress and attainment. The Team Leader will coordinate assessments, analyze data to inform practice, and implement strategies to raise achievement and engagement in languages. The role also includes organizing enrichment activities such as language clubs, exchanges, and cultural events, collaborating with senior leadership, and maintaining strong communication with parents and caregivers regarding student progress.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to teach at secondary level in at least one modern foreign language (e.g., French, Spanish, German) with strong classroom management and lesson planning skills.
• Experience in subject or team leadership, including mentoring colleagues, leading departmental meetings, and contributing to curriculum development and improvement planning.
• Strong skills in assessment, data analysis, and target-setting to track progress, identify gaps, and implement interventions that support diverse learners.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, families, and external partners.
• Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., QTS or equivalent) and a relevant degree in a modern foreign language or related field.
• Commitment to inclusive, student-centered practice, safeguarding, and promoting the well-being and achievement of all learners.
• Confidence in using digital tools and learning platforms to enhance teaching, learning, and departmental administration.
• Experience in organizing or supporting language-related enrichment activities, trips, or cultural events is desirable.
