Test Technician.
General Description:Skilled work within a safety critical role which demands a standard of competence necessitating either an apprenticeship to a trade or recognised training programme where an employee is required to be fully qualified in all parts of the trade and capable of producing work to the required standards, specification or finish expected of a Test Technician.To perform defined tasks to written instructions and to be able to work to their own initiative to enable the Depot to provide a quality service to the business.Carry out functional testing and commissioning of EMU/DMU and other rolling stock types of post works to a defined and written standard in line with UK rail safety regulations.Lead fault identification and rectification using recognised fault-finding techniques.
Responsibilities:
Work as directed by your line managerRead schematic drawingsWith minimal supervision investigate rolling stock faults found within the test processAssist the engineering process where necessaryWork within a high voltage environmentDownload and process train diagnostic data.Undertake fault finding to an advanced levelTest all types of on train systemsProduce complex, analytical technical reports on fault investigationSpecialise in areas of technical expertiseIf required deputise for test team leaderKeep test paperwork up to date, including test sheets and fault logsLiaise with production departments when necessaryAttend off site railway depots to support our customers requirementFrom time to time may be asked to carry out other reasonable tasks as directed by the line manager.Education Requirements/Person Specification:
Equivalent to GCSE C and above in Maths and English.Time served apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ Level 3 or higherCompetent and trained in electric/mechanical fault-finding techniquesDetailed knowledge of railway vehicle electrical/mechanical systems and componentsHas the ability to fault find complex circuits and systems to an advanced level.Has a proven track record of working within a safety critical environmentComputer literate and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.Personal Track Safety trained – Mandatory training requirementFirst aider trained
