What is the Job Function?

As a Vocational Instructor, you will be a key member of the Education Team at Kibble’s Skills Academy. You will play a lead role in supporting young people to develop meta-skills alongside meaningful vocational skills. Depending on your background and experience, you will deliver high-quality, hands-on learning in areas such as horticulture, construction, mechanics, green skills and sustainability, enterprise, or other relevant vocational disciplines. You will support young people to build confidence, independence, and transferable skills for future pathways.

Main Duties

• Inspire young people through practical, hands-on vocational learning experiences across
• Deliver high-quality instruction in your specialist area (e.g. horticulture, construction, mechanics, sustainability, enterprise or other relevant disciplines).
• Adapt learning to meet the individual needs of young people, supporting engagement and achievement.
• Prepare and deliver relevant qualification work/resource materials, and assess, record and report on progress.
• Support the development of positive work behaviours, employability skills, and resilience.
• Maintain and promote high standards of health and safety.
• Contribute to wider Skills Academy projects and initiatives, which may include enterprise, or community-based activities.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide a consistent and supportive learning environment.
• To safeguard the health and safety of all young people and staff.

Any other reasonable duties as required by The Skills Academy management team

What qualifications and experience are we looking for?

• Experience delivering vocational training or practical skills
• Relevant qualifications in your own discipline e.g. horticulture, construction, mechanics etc
• Experience in youth training and working with young people is essential.
• GTCS registration is desirable, and not essential.
• Demonstrating a clear commitment to continuing professional development, for example, studying towards a qualification in or relating to additional support needs.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Possess a full driving licence and be willing and able to drive school transport.
• Competent in Microsoft Office Skills.

Safe Crisis Training (SCM)

Successful candidates will require a level of fitness to be able to carry out SCM. Please see note section below (4) for further information.
