Mechanical Design Engineer Job at Clerkenwell WCX ED Full Time NEW

PE Global is currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our industrial engineering client (NOV) based in Middleton, Manchester, UK. The role is a permanent position and the salary for this role is £47,500 per annum.

The role is hybrid with 3 days in office / 2 WFH. Hours: 7:30 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday 7:30 – 12:30 Friday

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop mechanical products and engineered systems from concept through to manufacture
• Produce and review 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings
• Carry out engineering analysis including FEA and hand calculations to support design modifications and improvements
• Simplify and optimise existing designs to reduce cost and improve manufacturability and production efficiency
• Work closely with Production, Projects, and Procurement teams to ensure designs meet operational and customer requirements
• Ensure all engineering outputs comply with relevant internal standards, policies, and regulatory requirements
• Participate in internal design reviews and assess commercial and technical implications of design decisions
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation and adhere to Engineering Change Control procedures
• Investigate and resolve technical engineering queries in a timely and effective manner
• Ensure designs comply with industry regulations including Machinery Safety Directive, PED, ATEX, and REACH standards
• Support customer-focused engineering solutions and uphold high quality standards across all deliverables

Requirements:

• HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification (essential)
• Proven experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer role within an engineering or manufacturing environment (non-graduate level)
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software for mechanical design and drafting
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and engineering calculations
• Experience with Design for Manufacture, Assembly, and Maintenance (DFMA)
• Knowledge of engineering materials and their applications in industrial design
• Familiarity with relevant industry regulations (Machinery Safety Directive, PED, ATEX, REACH)
• Competence in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
