There is an exciting opportunity to join a growing research group in the Department of Genetics, University of Cambridge, as a part-time Research Laboratory Coordinator.
Our lab studies somatic evolution across the tree of life. We investigate how mutational processes vary across species with different lifespans and disease resistance to better understand ageing, cancer and environmental health. Our work spans a broad diversity of organisms, from ants to primates, elephants and whales. We combine histology, laser capture microdissection and ultra-accurate genome sequencing to pioneer new approaches in comparative somatic evolutionary genomics.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of the laboratory and its research programme. This will include coordinating biological sample logistics and international shipments, maintaining sample databases and inventories, helping manage the wet lab environment, supporting sample processing workflows, and ensuring good laboratory organisation, compliance with health and safety requirements and tracking budget expenditures. The role will also involve supporting students, postdoctoral researchers and collaborators across Cambridge, the Wellcome Sanger Institute and international partner organisations.
We are looking for a highly organised and proactive individual with strong project coordination skills, experience managing complex samples, records and workflows and laboratory experience in molecular biology, genomics or a related area.
