About us
The Maximising UK Adaptation to Climate Change (MACC) Hub works across the UK to implement and build crucial evidence on the efficacy of adaptation policy and interventions. The Hub is led by King’s College London and is funded by the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). Through its Policy Response Unit, the Hub is working closely with Defra and other UK government departments to coordinate a series of rapid turnaround research projects that will fill critical knowledge gaps relating to climate change adaptation.
The post holder will report to the Project Manager of the MACC Hub’s Policy Response Unit and will be able to work as part of King’s hybrid working model (Strand Campus).
About the role
The successful candidate will lead two consecutive projects to respond to identified policy needs on the public health risks posed by flooding and drought to private water supplies in Wales and how to respond; and a review of international approaches to water abstraction monitoring. They will be responsible for reading and synthesising available evidence, liaising with policy teams, and drafting policy relevant outputs.
The successful candidate will be based at King’s College London and will be part of a small team working in parallel on policy response work. They will work closely with policy teams in the Water branch of the Welsh Government and the Directorate for Environment and Forestry in the Scottish Government.
This is a full time post and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 8 months.
