Payroll Officer Job at London Full Time

£23–£27 per hour (Umbrella)

We are supporting a London-based healthcare organisation to recruit an experienced Sole Payroll Officer on an interim basis.

This is a key role within a small finance function, taking ownership of the end-to-end payroll process while also supporting wider finance activities. There is a strong opportunity to review and refine existing payroll processes, making this ideal for someone who enjoys improving systems and driving efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll for ~250 staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Handle payroll queries, working closely with HR and line managers
• Ensure compliance with PAYE, NI, and statutory requirements
• Maintain payroll system records (iTrent) and produce monthly reports
• Support pensions administration, including NHS Pensions submissions
• Assist with accounts payable/receivable and general finance duties as required
• Identify opportunities to improve and streamline payroll processes

Requirements

• Proven experience running payroll as a sole or lead function
• Experience with iTrent (absolutely essential)
• Experience processing payroll for Bank workers/Unsocial Hours
